Top-notch project manager joins DreamMaker Remodeling Franchise for brand recognition, simple client attraction model, great product

Florida certified residential contractor Bob Meehan had 30 years in the business under his belt before joining the DreamMaker Remodeling Franchise team as a project manager at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Manasota in Bradenton, Florida. Not only did Bob want to use his skills, he also wanted to simplify his life.

With a degree in construction, designations from industry associations and years of experience, Bob knew he wanted to hitch his wagon to a known quantity with a great reputation. Bob, who got his bachelor of science degree in construction management from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, with honors, understood that DreamMaker had brand recognition. He also knew that Ernest Gilbert, who owns the remodeling franchise location in Bradenton, respected his history.

The joining of forces was a win-win for the industry veteran and for DreamMaker.

“I knew that they had a good reputation, and it offered me a lot of opportunities for advancement,” Bob says.

Bob began his career in residential remodeling in 1989. Though his contracting work originated in New York, he moved to Florida to be near his parents and siblings. Florida took a hard hit just after the housing bust, but Bob noticed that the remodeling industry rebounded fairly soundly.

“The remodeling business has been booming for the past two years here, and I would assume that it’s doing the same around the country,” says Bob, who is also certified by the National Association of Home Builders as a Certified Graduate Remodeler.

He adds that the work with DreamMaker has been consistent.

“I have been with DreamMaker for about a year, and we are constantly busy.”

In 2013, the remodeling industry grew 3.1 percent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen grew much faster: Our same-store sales grew more than 23 percent.

Hanley Wood, which studies the remodeling industry, expects it to grow about 9 percent in 2015. We’ll be looking for our franchisees to beat that number, too.
